I am doing a lot of pruning using a chainsaw and I needed protection from flying debris. I have a clear face shield but it either fogs up or gets full of dust. So, I came across this item with a mesh shield and decided to give it a try. The helmet is well made, fits well (I have a large head 7 1/2") is adjustable and the shield pivots fully open or closed and has very positive stops. It is fairly light and the ear protection does a good job of reducing the noise levels. It does not fog up and dust does not restrict my view. I am satisfied with this product.
Very good helmet for the price. Definitely not for professional timber worker though. Great for the residential homeowner.
I’m trimming back lots of low hanging branches and this protects my head just fine. I’m also doing a lot of brush removal with a brush cutter blade and it’s throwing debris everywhere. The face mask has been very effective. The hearing protection has been outstanding! The ear muffs fit me perfectly. Not too loose and not too tight.
The helmet is lightweight so it wouldn’t protect you much from big branches falling. The face shield takes a little getting used to. At first it is difficult to see through but after a few minutes you adjust and it is easy to see.
The screen is described as stainless steel but I seriously doubt that. The directions say to clean with soap and water after use then dry it off. I’ve had similar face shields in the past that rusted out in 1 season. This may last longer though. I’ve only used it for a week.
If I were a pro logger, I’d buy a pro helmet at several times the price. But I’m not spending that kind of money when I only do this kind of yard work every couple years.
This is a very nice helmet, face guard, and hearing protection. I looked at move expensive ones. This is not industrial grade. But for DIY around the house, it is perfect. I believe for the price, it was the perfect choice for me. For the price I believe that it is much higher quality than I was expecting. I have a very large head and I had to adjust it down quite a bit to fit. Did take some assembly. But it was pretty simple. I have large ears also and the hearing protection fit just fine. I now will be able to wear my ear buds and lesson to music while I mow and or use the weed eat. I really needed this to protect my glasses. I can't see without my glasses. And small pepples were getting thrown and they would scratch them. And if I ever need another one, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this one again.
My husband picked up this helmet when our son was interested in helping cut wood at the property. It has enough of a brim to provide some sun relief, but not so much that it hinders your view. The mesh face is absolutely fantastic- it keeps chips out of your eyes/face, and cannot fog up like safety glasses. I think it works better than safety glasses honestly, as it's full coverage and breathable. Despite hot summer days and full sun, our son doesn't have any complaints. He still prefers ear plugs over muffs, though.
